HOW TO APPLY TO FCA - Online Application

Please fill out the online application below to enroll in FCA.
Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by FCA.
You will be notified by email of your acceptance into the academy within 5 business days.
Once accepted into FCA, you will be emailed a checklist to help you complete your enrollment.
*Late or mid-semester enrollments will be considered on an individual basis
depending on need and availability. Late fees may apply.

PLEASE NOTE:

At FCA, teachers are referred to as Mentors and students are referred to as Scholars.
All FCA Scholars are between the ages of 12-18 years old. Students must be 12 years old by August 18 in order to enroll.

Payment must be made in full at the time of registration, or the classes I have signed up for may be given to the next child on the waitlist.
There is a registration fee that will need to be paid in order to enroll every semester.

Cancellations

If a registered family or Scholar leaves the Academy within the designated two-week period,
monies – less any expenses incurred, will be refunded. After the two-week period, no refund
will be given. Cancellations requested after the class begins will be refunded directly from
the Mentor in charge of the class.

Scholars are expected to make every effort to attend their scheduled classes.
Families are required to notify each class’s Mentor of all planned and unplanned absences.

ON CAMPUS POLICIES 21. Please check the box below if you understand and agree with this policy.

Scholars need to be in their scheduled class. If a scholar has a gap in their scedule, the parent must contact the chairman.

Fire Canyon Academy will not be responsible for a Scholar who leaves the premises
without permission.
When school ends for the day, Scholars are expected to help clean up and follow
through with their responsibilities.
Families are required to pick up their Scholars promptly and will not be allowed to
loiter after classes have ended.

PURPOSE:

FCA Motto: We are Fire Canyon Academy. We believe in Jesus Christ and strive to follow him. As we embrace truth, extend compassion, defend liberty and do so with courage and virtue, we will impact our families, communities, and the world for good.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Fire Canyon Academy is a Christ-centered Community of Families who offer opportunities for youth to connect with quality peers, deepen existing friendships, increase spirituality, and provide an environment that encourages learning through Scholar Projects and Leadership Education. Our mission is to help each of our members grow into leaders who will embody a moral foundation of truth, virtue, compassion, liberty, and courage so that they can positively impact their families, communities, and the world for good.

FOUNDING PRINCIPLES:

- Love of God - God wants us to learn and gain knowledge through personal effort. In return, He blesses us with enlightened answers, paths and understanding. Study in core value books/scriptures in class is encouraged and approved.

- Love of Family - Our families take priority over everything. We support, not replace, the family as the center of learning.

- Freedom to Choose Education - We ask that scholars fully participate and engage in the classes that they have chosen to be in. Scholars are accountable for their choices and do the work they have set out to do.

- Classics not Textbooks - We consider a classic to be a book, piece, or source that you can return to and continue to learn from. We seek for truth through classics. A study of truths that are constant is necessary for us to understand and measure truth for ourselves.

- Mentors - Mentors devote their time and energy to lead and love scholars and encourage them in their learning and growth of academics and character through scholarship ladders. Mentors are expected to use their spiritual eyes to be helpful, compassionate, and challenge scholars when and where they are ready.

BEHAVIOR CODE:

Be courteous and respectful
Arrive on time and be attentive in class
Avoid visiting between classes
Visit during lunch time and speak kindly and positively about others
Clean up messes and complete cleaning assignments
Use furniture and building facilities appropriately (sit on chairs and use tables for books, writing on paper, etc.)

Not Allowed-

Earpods, toys, food, or electronic devices (unless mentor approves use for class, mentors are allowed to collect phones during class if there is a problem)
Speaking in anger, insults, and gossip
Profanity, vulgarity or crude language of any kind
Inappropriate gestures, jokes or stories of immoral actions
Inappropriate displays of affection

DRESS & APPEARANCE CODE:

Wear clothing that covers your body from your shoulders to your thighs at all times, including in movement and holes in clothing
Wear shorts that are at or below the fingertips when the arm is extended below the sides

Tops that cover the shoulders, chest, stomach and back

MEMBER SUPPORTED:

Our commonwealth scholar school needs your support through service! Each member is required to volunteer in at least one of the following ways:

Parent Meetings
*We will support the community by having 6 monthly in-person and zoom/virtual parent trainings/gatherings (2 during fall semester, 4 in Spring). Each member is required to attend 3 of the meetings (you are welcome to attend all of them). Remember, the Spring Parent training in May is mandatory.

FIRE CANYON HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

I understand that participation in Fire Canyon Academy and activities involves a certain degree of risk that could result in injury or death. In consideration of the benefits to be derived, after carefully considering the risk involved, and in view of the fact that the Fire Canyon Academy is a non-profit organization in which membership is voluntary, I have carefully considered the risk involved and have given consent for myself (or my son or daughter as listed on Fire Canyon’s Registration Form) to participate in the activity, and waive all claims I or we may have against the Fire Canyon Academy, the FCA Board, the activity coordinators, and all volunteers, and or related parties, or other organizations associated with any activity. I am not under the influence of any chemical substance, including alcohol. I understand that any physical activity involves a risk of injury. I understand that my participation (or my allowing the participation of my son or daughter as listed on Fire Canyon’s Registration Form) in the activity is entirely voluntary. I release Fire Canyon Academy, the FCA Board, the activity coordinators, and all the volunteers, or any related parties or other organizations associated with the activity from any and all claims or liability arising out of this participation. This release does not, however, apply to any harm caused by negligence or willful misconduct of the FCA Board, or its volunteers and the organizers of any event including regular school days. In case of an emergency involving my child, I understand every effort will be made to contact me as stated on the Fire Canyon Academy Registration Form. In the event I cannot be reached, I hereby give my permission to the physician selected by the adult leader in charge to secure proper treatment, including hospitalization, anesthesia, surgery, or injections of medication for my child.

24. FCA is a Christian based community that encourages students and families to pray, seek to strengthen their relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
